thumbd is a collaborative effort to make a social bookmarking/news rating hybrid website. The emphasis is on making the site as usable as possible.

The development of the website is open source and in PHP and MySQL.

The idea behind thumbd is simple. If you find a high-quality resource on the internet, you give it a "thumbs up" by entering it into our system. Other members will review the resource you entered, and decide if they want to give it a "thumbs up" also. If the resource is thumbd by enough users, it'll be promoted to the main page.

thumbd will only be a true resource with a ton of great users, so don't forget to spread the word.

thumbd has a Ping Trackback system that will notify the thumbd page about the "thumbs up". This is a great way to notify quality authors about the value of their work, and maybe they'll even become users to.
