The current target platform is a x86 environment, but I'd like to have the ability for the application to run in x64 also. Disabling the beep.sys doesn't work, which is understandable seeing as it no longer has anything to do with the internal speaker (if I'm not totally misunderstanding the article, that is!) Just I believe that the licensing is cheaper and it allows you to remove a bunch of OS functionality that you don't need for your dedicated solution.
