Now, i've tested with third party 1.3 HDMI cable (claims to give full HD picture deliverability), mid quality 1.3 Microsoft HDMI cable & Sonys Category (1.3a or higher) 2.0 high speed I've got a Lenovo Y560 and I just can't get my music to play through the TV. I didn't do the update because of audio problems but for a video problem. You have to make sure that itunes is not loaded before hooking up the HDMI cable. But, if it still does not display that USUALLY indicates a problem with the Video drivers. It was so simple I can't believe I didn't think of it. But that's kind of minor (although I'd like to know how to fix it), because sometimes the HDMI sound to my HDTV works fine, and sometimes it doesn't work at all.... Don't forget to set the speakers back as default after disconnecting.
RIGHT click in a blank area in that panel and select show disabled and disconnected devices. For the first two weeks, when I would switch the audio back to the PC speakers, WMP would play through them like it always did.
