None of the other methods listed in this article has worked for me with an OTA setup to populate channels into my WMC guide. Then later that evening, Windows did an update and rebooted the computer and the guide listings were missing again. his comment is here

So do what I did and you should be ok but updating windows if you do make sure the media center is working each time. - One of the primary reasons we've said that it isn't dead is that Microsoft continues to make Electronic Program Guide (EPG) data available to the Media Center guide.
- A successful update to the guide was able to be show that the data was successfully being gathered from Rovi as shown below.

Trust me, I have been watching log files and the Even viewer almost every hour and I have run TV setup at least 30 times in the last 3 days...AT LEAST. Lucky in my area, there is only 1-2 channels that I have that are protected, I hope this is addressed with when we get the 8.1 files (it's the next step) I downloaded without installing their software initially. I went through a variety of debug steps which did not resolve the issue. I do not have cable or satellite. Rerunning the TV signal setup with a nearby zip code did the trick. Paul (MSP, Minnesota) area and no dice.
Check out some of the links for some more information. When you create that, right click, go to properties, Compatibility, "change settings for all users" , Compatibility: Windows 8 and Check "Run this program as an Administrator" Try again after that Windows Media Center has used Zap2It as it's guide data source for years. Test away, the last one was updated to fix permissions but, this should be it...
Short answer is neither option in Windows 10 is as good as WMC. I have run and re-run Windows Update, but when I come back into WMC and re-run tuner set up, I'm still pulling listings from ZapIt - which don't go beyond 7/26.
Shioh Harder I lost my last 13 HD channels when my guide switched to Rovi. If you switch to an alternative all your files going forward will not be wtv. Any suggestions? MC would say that it downloaded the guide, but it would be blank. I get all the channels but I do not get the ability to attempt to download the guide.
