My issue was windows firewall was disabled, enabling it let me search for updates. The service wuauserv is runing, the directory SoftwareDistribution is clean (only initial files and directories). Now that Update works it does not list SP2 as an update as it did before. Then I found your site.

Thanks in advance. I installed windows 7 on it from my back up DVDs and intell rapid storage drive. This made me completely give up on using Windows; if the system isn't up-to-date I'm not using it. Windows Update Agent Vista So.

The install list does not show them installed and the 'available' list is not changed. I tried several suggestions offered by others to no avail. After applying this patch, check the updates manually. check over here I am on Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1.
