The Microsoft scanner and camera wizard is not opening automatically? If you really cannot find them you might be able to recover the pictures from the photo storage card if that is what you have? I haven't checked, but I guess the same program will open when I plug any camera in (I use a Canon as well). Of course for the automatic scanner and camera wizard to work unless you have a camera connected to your computer.
