As such, you can reset the settings to default to resolve the issue. Now my monitor automatically enter in standby after a time set by me(2 mins, 3 mins...20 minutes). I suspect a recent Windows update may have caused my screensaver to stop working, but I can't substantiate that. http://thumbd.net/windows-xp/windows-xp-mode-windows-update-not-working.html I resolved the bug from Power Management->Power Scheme.

That did not make sense to me because my screen still went blank. I too, have a cordless mouse, by Logitech. For example, it's been widely reported that the Magic Jack, a VOIP (voice over IP) USB / phone device can prevent the Windows screensaver from working properly. Let it sit for a while and see if the screen savers start.
